CMDI Bay awards 548 scholarship grants

CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) Bay campus awarded 548 students with scholarship grants at its Lalao Facility in Brgy. Tranca, Bay, Laguna on July 27, 2019.

Dr. Edzel A. Ramos, CMDI Executive Vice President, congratulates the scholars on his welcome remarks. Wearing his “Bente” shirt, Dr. Ramos shared the humble beginnings of CARD MRI.

CARD MRI’s “One Family, One Graduate” program aims to ensure that for every family that it serves, one will graduate from college through a scholarship grant. The scholars will enjoy a full subsidy in their tuition and miscellaneous fees.

Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip, CARD MRI Founder and CMDI’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, inspired everyone by stating that education is the greatest equalizer and the best weapon to fight poverty. He believes that if CARD MRI could help send one child per family to school and graduate, this child can then help his/her siblings to also finish college, and together they will lead their family out of poverty. He also added that education is not just a privilege but also a responsibility.

Flordeliza Sarmiento, CARD MRI Managing Director and CMDI President, said that education and discipline will lead to success. “Knowledge and skills are useless if the attitude is below the standard. To parents, we must encourage, discipline, and support our children to do well,” she added.

Meanwhile, scholars expressed their sincerest gratitude to CARD MRI and one of them is Bernardo Ombina Sr., a 52-year old BS Entrepreneurship student. Regardless of his age, Ombina ensured that he and his son Bryan Meary will have an opportunity to study. He was encouraged by his dream to become a successful entrepreneur and believes that establishing a business will create employment for others and will help reduce poverty in the country.

“To my co-parents and co-students, our presence here is useless if we’re not able to reach the finish line. This is just a start, let’s see each other again on graduation day,” he encouraged.

Dianne B. Ubaldo, CMDI Program Officer, oriented the students on the Scholarship Program.

Juliana B. De Leon, Senior Vice President for Operation of CARD MRI RBI, and Shiela Icaro, Program Manager of CARD Scholarship Program were also present in the awarding.
